Ten years ago, after a three-decade career in hospitality, Howard Chang, a long-time real estate investor, decided to become a broker. His experience in his prior career along with the network he cultivated during that period, combined with his sound investment insights, garnered Howard quick success in the real estate realm; during his 10 years as a broker he’s sold more than $80 million worth of residential and commercial properties. He specializes in downtown Boston, including Back Bay, the Seaport, and Boston’s waterfront, and surrounding cities and towns such as Brookline, Cambridge, Needham, Newton, and Wellesley. He specializes in residential and commercial listings and focuses on Back Bay, the Financial District, the Seaport, and Boston’s waterfront, and is also knowledgeable about suburban areas including Newton, Wellesley, and Needham. The first time Howard meets clients, he doesn’t take them out for a showing. “I want to be a good advisor to my clients. I try to understand them deeper,” says Howard. “I want to know that their lifestyle is like and what their plan is for the next 5-10 years; why they need to sell or buy and why they are interested in a certain location. That way, we don’t waste time seeing properties that aren’t an exact match for them.”
As an Asian-American, Howard feels he is uniquely poised to work with both domestic and international clients. Well versed in both Mandarin and Cantonese, he works with clients all over China to buy properties in both Boston and New York City. “I’m a low-key person and I have a lot of high-profile clients who are very private,” says Howard. I make sure their decisions are kept very confidential.” After decades of investing in real estate himself and assisting friends and family with their real estate decisions, Howard Chang made the decision to become a full-time real estate professional ten years ago. In many ways the transition was seamless, as Howard continues to leverage his insights and help his clients make sound real estate decisions as a licensed broker.

A good percentage of his client portfolio consists of overseas investors who are interested in properties in one or more the cities on the east coast. “I have a lot of high-profile clients who are very private. I respect and honor their wishes the way I have dealt with friends and family,” says Howard. “I make sure their decisions are kept confidential.”
