Hugh Geiger

President & Founder

Hugh founded First Boston Realty in 2002, which is consistently ranked in the top 3 real estate offices in the Massachusetts rental market. Raised in Richmond, VA, he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1985-1990, and completed his undergraduate studies at Georgetown University at the Edmund A. Walsh School of Foreign Service, and then attended law school at New England School of Law. After law school, Hugh joined the Public Defender’s Office in Charleston, WV. After 2 years of public service he decided to follow his passion and return to the real estate industry. In addition to his successful high-end real estate firm, Hugh is co-founder of Thinking Cup—a unique Boston area group of coffee shops that opened on December 14, 2010. Ever the entrepreneur, in 2014 Hugh established Hartland Hill Farm, a 93-acre authentic working farm located in Vermont.

Full Biography

Upon completing high school in Richmond, VA, Hugh immediately departed for Marine Corps Boot Camp at Paris Island.  Graduating with honors he was first stationed in Iwakuni, Japan as an Aircraft Rescue and Firefighting Specialist.  Hugh later had the honor of being selected to join Marine Security Guard Battalion at Quantico, VA. He was later assigned to the U.S. Embassy in Moscow where he provided security services for President Reagan during the Moscow Summit between President Reagan and President Gorbachev. Hugh was later posted at the US Embassies in Tokyo, Japan and San Salvador, El Salvador. In early 1990 Hugh was re-activated and returned to active duty in support of Operation Desert Storm. During his time in the Marine Corps Hugh received a number of accommodations to include: Arms Forces Expeditionary Medal, Combat Action Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Medal, and Navy Unit Citation.

Education
After his service in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1985-1990, Hugh completed his undergraduate studies at Georgetown University at the Edmund A. Walsh School of Foreign Service widely recognized as one of the world’s leading international affairs schools. Hugh majored in Asian Studies with a minor in Japanese Language. He eventually came to Boston, Massachusetts in 1996 to attend law school at New England School of Law. During his 3 years of law school he devoted his free time to working in the real estate industry. In 1997 he was able to participate in an internship with the United Nations focused on providing research for the International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda. Hugh later interned with the Attorney General’s Office in the Massachusetts Narcotics Division. After law school, Hugh joined the Public Defender’s Office in Charleston, WV, however, after 2 years of public service he decided to follow his passion and return to the real estate industry.

Entrepreneurship
Hugh founded First Boston Realty International in 2002, which is consistently ranked in the top 3 real estate offices in Massachusetts in the rental market. In addition to his successful high-end real estate firm, Hugh is co-founder of Thinking Cup—a unique coffee shop that opened on December 14, 2010. Boston Magazine named Thinking Cup “Boston’s Best Coffee Shop” in the summer of 2011. Thinking Cup expanded to a 2nd location on December 10, 2012 and then to a 3rd location on Newbury St in May of 2014. In the summer of 2014, Thinking Cup was voted Best Coffee Shop in Boston by the Improper Bostonian.

Of all of his professional accomplishments, Hugh is most proud of his service in the Marine Corps. Hugh enjoys traveling and photography during his down time.
